Before the puck has even dropped, I feel like I've given up on this game. The Bruins are in town for the 2nd of four meetings this season and while we sit in last in our conference, the Bruins are in 2nd just 1 point back from the Rangers.
Predicting how the last couple of games have gone, I predict that the Bruins will get out to a 2-0 lead after the first. Of course we'll make some bad turnovers and the Bruins will get some chances off of these mistakes. We may then score a goal or two, one of which will be by Stamkos, only to end up losing the game like 4-2.
Frack. So this is how good the season is going huh?

Yes Greg, I'd love to have your fantastic problem...On the other hand, the Bruins are still winning hockey games and the Tim Thomas/Tuuka Rask breakfast combo is still the best in the NHL. Tuukka Rask leads the NHL in both save percentage (.946) and GAA(1.61). Tim Thomas is second in the NHL in SV% (9.37) and 6th in the NHL in GAA (1.99). They're the NHL's version of Batman and Robin. It seems that Rask may pull a Dick Grayson and become Batman in the near future.
Either way you look at it, Boston has a fantastic problem that most NHL clubs would love to have. They have two All-Star caliber goalies who could should contend for a Vezina Trophy if they're able to keep this up at the end of the season.

Lecavalier did end up with a four minute roughing call and a 10 minute misconduct for the incident.
Lecavalier left today without speaking to media but here is what Boucher said of the incident (via tbo.com):
"Vinny felt that Malkin tried to go for his knees,'' Boucher said. "In those situations, he's the captain and he wants to show that we are not going to just take everything and be little poodles and wait for things to happen.
"For me, there is absolutely no blame on his part there. He's emotional and he's trying to make this team win and that was his way of showing that we are not going to take it. I don't blame him at all.''
What Malkin did was nothing compared to what Brach Marchand did on Sami Salo, so no blame on Malkin here. He just plainly avoided the check. Lecavalier just misread what happened and let his emotions take over. We've seen this happen before and we know that once Lecavalier is steamed about something, there is really no stopping him.And let's hear it again for that jersey foul of a Venetian Dental. 1st Period:
Just as the Root sports commentators are talking about Stamkos and Malkin, Stamkos takes a slashing penalty on Malkin early in the 1st period. James Neal capitalizes with a sharp angle shot from the goal line past Garon to put the Pens up 1-0.
Engelland and Pierre-Cedric Labrie go at it.
Engelland has the edge in the fight but we get an appearance of Labrie's hair.
At this point in the game, the Lightning only have 1 shot on net.

Is letting opposition go up by two goals in the 1st the M.O.? Then clawing your way back only to still lose the game?
This is our sixth straight loss.

That's what we really want to know right? We want to SEE this myth of a goaltender who plays on the Westcoast that people speak of. He's the one who may be a good fit to be a starter next season for us in Tampa, or at least that's what everyone seems to say right?
