Marty: What's going on Stevie?
Steven: I'll tell you what's goin on! We've got another win against the league leading Philadelphia Flyers!

So the Lightning won 4-0 over the Flyers tonight in their 3rd game of their 12 game homestand. This is their sixth win in a row.

Roloson also posted his fourth shutout with the Lightning since being acquired. He has only played 11 games so far with the Lightning. That's ridiculous. So this whole getting a good goaltender thing is working out for the Lightning, no?

  • Because the Flyers lost tonight and the Canucks won tonight over Dallas, the Canucks move to first in the league, dropping the Flyers down to second. Your Tampa Bay Lightning come in at third spot followed by the Pens in fourth.
  • Stamkos scored his 39th goal of the season
  • The Lightning now have two back-ups on their roster as Smith has returned from his two-week conditioning stint. Yzerman admits to having been working the phones to try make a trade
  • Philadelphia has 38 shots on net to Tampa's 22
  • The Lightning have won all three of the games played against the Flyers so far
  • Bobrovsky let in 3 goals on 6 shots
  • Attendance record came in at 16,635
Next game against the Flyers is at home in 2 weeks on February 15th

Want some stuff with the new logo on it?
According to the @TBLightning twitter, the Lightning are giving away t-shirts with the new logo on it on Friday. I'll post up more details when I hear of them.

Want some autographs?
Sean Bergenheim, Nate Thompson and Adam Hall will be signing autographs tomorrow (Wed Feb 2) at some local businesses.

Amid all the jersey talk today...the Lightning were also busy announcing a two year contract extension for Nate Thompson.

According to Cristodero, the deal is believed to be worth $1.8 million broken down to being: $950,000 in 2011-12 (includes a $100,000 signing bonus) and $850,000 in 2012-13.

He currently makes $625,000 this season no comments

Today the Lightning unveiled their new logo and jersey's for next year on their online video feed today. The home jersey's are the blue ones that St. Louis and Stamkos are wearing, and the away jersey is the white one that Lecavalier is wearing.

Gone is the black from the current ones and the Lightning bolts on the shorts to a jersey that people are comparing in likeness to the Red Wings' jersey or the Leafs' jersey.

My initial thought on the jersey: I like it

No seriously. I really like it. I like the simplicity in it, I like the blue and white and the ties at the collar. And the arm bands. And I like the old-school feel of the patches. The logo is so simple I can draw it.

If you don't like it, well I'm sure it will grow on you, just give it some time.

There was the All-Star game this weekend which you may or may not have watched. I didn't catch much of it, just some of the events during the skills competition yesterday. But here is some of the photos from the weekend

Puck Daddy posted the Vegas odds to win the Stanley Cup according to Bodog.

The Lightning come in with 14-to-1 odds to win this years' cup and a 7-to-1 odds to win the Eastern Conference.

We've come a long way this year so far.

For reference, the Canucks have the best shot at 9-to-2, followed by the Penguins at 5-to-1. The Lightning have the 7th best odds according to the odds list. no comments

So we won't get to see what the new jersey looks like until probably after the All-Star break, but Cristodero had this in his blog the other day that gives you an idea of some of the changes to it:

The organization's primary colors will be blue and white. The dark home jersey will have the lightning bolt logo, though the words "Tampa Bay" will be removed. The road white jersey will include "Tampa Bay" with lettering either very close or exactly like that currently in use. There will be ties at the front of the collars. -Lightning Strikes

Offtopic:

In a press release yesterday, Kayem Foods struck a deal to become the official hot dog and sausage of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Cue the jokes, but the company has taken over the Florida sports teams one by one, now being the official dog of the Lighting, Rays and Seminoles. no comments

The Lightning played a good 1st period, a mediocre 2nd period and a ok 3rd period.

But I don't think this game even matter how well or not well our team played, but more on how little offense the Leafs have got. Their goalie James Reimer played a pretty good game though.

And let's talk about Simon Gagne here. Another goal? Yessssssss....

The hit by Phaneuf on Tyrell though was a little suspect thought:

Even though I find hits like these hilarious (Ohlund did a nice one in Vancouver), based on the reply I saw on TSN, Tyrell was not that close to the puck. I'll have to see another replay to be sure, but that's just my initial thought on it. Speaking of hilarity, look at the look of shock on the face of those two Leafs on the bench.

Lightning are now on All-Star break until next Tuesday against the Flyers. The Flyers are just 4 points ahead of us in 1st place in the conference.

Update:
Here is the video of the Phaneuf hit on Tyrell (not as bad as I thought initially):
