Record: Lightning (23-24-5) Rangers (33-13-5)
Previous games: Thursday Dec 8, 2011 - Lightning win 3-2, Saturday Dec 3, 2011 - Rangers win 4-2
Game time: 7:00pm EST on SUN (HD)
Both teams come into tonight's game with a record of 6-3-1 in the last 10 games. The Lightning had a no show effort in their last game against the Kings. Props go to the Kings for playing a great roadgame, but the Lightning didn't really give them much of a challenge. Based on Scotty Hockey's recap of the Rangers game against the Devils on Tuesday, it sounds like the Rangers put in the same effort that the Lightning did.
I still can't get over that the Rangers are currently in 1st in the Conference. It just doesn't seem like it should be possible. Like I know while watching 24/7 they were playing well, but in 1st? Crazy world we live in. Larry Brooks wrote an article about how their buyin of the system for the Rangers could make them the next big winners in New York. The Lightning are not thinking of how far the Rangers are ahead of them as there is no catching up, but will just take one game at a time.
Tonight they begin a three game road trip where we'll face off against the Ranger, Sabres and Pens. John is comparing this road trip to a change in weather, and is using some English device that I can't remember what it's called from my English 12 glasses in high school. Something about the cold of the trip being like our season dying with each game played that ends in a loss.

Based on today's tweets, Ryan Malone is skating without a no-contact jersey but doesn't appear he will play tonight. At least practice sounds like its going better than the last time at MSG:
Lightning morning skate at MSG going much better this time. Marty St. Louis not bleeding from the eye, Guy Boucher not ripping his team.— Dave Lozo (@DaveLozo) February 9, 2012
Rangers injuries: Michael Sauer
Lightning injuries: Mattias Ohlund, Dana Tyrell, Ryan Malone
According to the NYR Blog, Biron will start in net for the Rangers and I think we can expect that Garon will be in net for the LightningLinks:
