Stamkos nets two goals to tie Gaborik for the league lead in goals. Who still lets Stamkos set up shop at the left circle all by himself?

Apparently the Flyers.

Recap after the jump...

***

The score does explain what happened in this game one bit. Sure the Lightning came out with the win, but the play was so lopsided in favor of chances for the Flyers. Matt Read could have gotten five goals tonight if it had not been for Garon. In the end though, we got five goals and the much needed win. It took some great goaltending by Garon and some very timely goals for us to get tonight's win.

The first period ended up with the Bruno Gervais getting his third goal of the season mid way through the period and Hartnell tying it up late in the period. Hedman leaves with some upper body injury and is out for the rest of the game. Begin the freakout.

Garon is the reason why the Lightning come out of the first tied 1-1. The Flyers outshoot the Lightning 17-4.

Second period is where the Lightning start to look a little better.

Clark shoots the puck at Bryz's chest and Stamkos gets his first goal of the night by backhanding in the rebound.

He's a really ugly guy with that hair

Midway through the period Downie gets his fifth of the year with a wicked wrist shot. Was a hard angle to shoot from but the Lightning are up 3-1.

After some stuff along the boards, Brewer gets suckered into a fight with Wayne Simmonds. Brewer gets a punch in...

This does not look good

Enough, enough Simmer...

before getting TKO'd by Simmonds.

Blood on the ice. Brewer goes to the dressing room.

Here's the video of the fight:

Terrible time to take a penalty/get injured by Brewer as he leaves his team now down to 4 defensemen. None of which are in the top pairing.

Balls.

Malone looks a lot like a shirt-wearing Matthew Mcconaughey sometimes

After the scrum, Hartnell talks some shit, maybe he swings his tick at the Lightning bench, which incenses Malone enough to jump off the bench to get involved. Both Hartnell and Malone end up with a 10 minute misconduct.

Post game, @renhockey explain this was the reason for why Malone was pissed:

Late in the period Max Talbot is an idiot and takes a boarding penalty and an unsportsmanlike penalty. Bring on the Lightning PP.

Downie passes to Stamkos and Stamkos gets his 2nd of the night from the left circle on Bryz. BOOM. Lightning up 4-1.

The Lightning play the third period like shit. They take a million, or maybe 7 icing calls in the third period along. I think they got 11 total in the game. Compare that to the 0 icing calls the Flyers took. CSN was discussing maybe this was some strategy by Boucher since the Lightning were doing better in the faceoff circle. I'm not so sure I agree with them but Dominic Moore was 71% in the circle and Adam Hall was 67%.

The Flyers also outshot the Lightning 12-4 in the third and definitely outchanced them.

Somehow though on the one time thet get a puck into the Flyers zone without it being icing we get a classic Marty to Vinny move. Vinny gets his 12th of the season.

Talbot ends the game with another penalty for being Max Talbot. What a douche.

Post-game quote from Bryz:
“Outstanding. How I can describe? What do you think? We lose 1-5. After fuck 2-4, 0-6. How do you think I think about my game? What do you think?”
